W. Atlee Burpee & Co.
Philadelphia, Pa.

Dear Sirs:-
Our first experience with Burpee's seeds was in 1918, when we converted a city backyard into a garden: It throve, and from it I canned about forty jars, taking second prize the the Horticultural Society's exhibit.
For the past five years, although in the suburbs of a large city, plant a plot 60 x 100 ft, supplying our family of five with vegetables for the year as we store away about two hundred and fifty jars m, besides root crops, all raised on our own land, a pleasure that one must experience to realize.
Aside from the material gain, which means many dollars saved, there are other things to be counted-The Man of the House finds it a pleasant change from his daily work in the city, Mother receives vigor from the same source, while for the little folk we feel it is of the greatest benefit; they are learning some of the wonders of nature, unconciously absorbing beauty and health to be a good foundation for useful man and womanhood.
Garden and Home seem synonymous, it has created a mutual interest and ^[[it]] is chiefly due to Burpee's seeds that we have received our inspiration.
Yours Sincerely,
Susan F. Hayford
