What Burpee's Seeds Have Done for Me

I lived for a long time where we had no room to grow even flowers. Consequently when the World War soared living prices, I knew nothing of growing a garden, but felt obliged to do so having the responsibility of a small family.

With the aid of a twelve year old son we took a war garden thirty by ninety – these spaces being donated by a generous gentleman to those wishing to use them.

Several years previous to this, a friend had told me of visiting a wonderful garden of vegetables and flowers grown from seeds purchased from Burpee of Philadelphia. I remembered and sent for a catalogue.

We had a very successful garden and the next year we cultivated two of these spaces, the third year there, adding flowers for our pleasure. This experience enthused us with the good fresh things to eat and created a desire to more thoroughly understand nature and its wonders. I purchased eleven acres and, through the advise of our local Farm Bureau have taken up the agricultural courses offered by State College.

So, now, I will rotate and cultivate and Burpee-ize as well as fertilize for more success.
