SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION,
WASHINGTON, D. C., Feb. 2nd 1882

Sir:

My report for the month of January, 1882, relating to the Materia Medica Section of the National Museum, shows no specimens catalogued or received. The time has occupied in preparing for exhibition the specimens already received: experimenting on the form and character of labels; continuing the compilation of the Pharmacopoeias; and preparing a classification and definitions of Medicinal Forms to be illustrated by a special exhibit.

Very respectfully.
Your obedient servant
J. M. Flint.

Professor S. F. Baird.
Director of the U.S. National Museum
