[[underlined] FOR PRIZE CONTEST [[/underline]]

440 South Avenue,
Wilkinsburg, PA
August 13, 1924

W. Atlee Burpee Co.,
5th & Buttonwood Streets,
Philadelphia, Pa

Gentlemen:

For me Burpee's seeds have done a number of things:

1 - They have given me an inducement for pleasant outdoor exercise which I would not necessarily otherwise have had;

2 - They have given us an ample supply of fresh vegetables of excellent quality and at low cost;

3 - Finally, they have vindicated me: In view of this being my first year as an amateur gardener and the fact that the ground, which is in a community plot, has been extensively worked without fertilization, my friends were rather skeptical of my success; but in the face of these handicaps, the showing I have made seems to indicate that Burpee's Seeds were the deciding factor. This is further emphasized by a comparison with the results achieved by others in the community plot who merely planted "seeds".

Yours very truly,
