For Prize Contest.

We are amafrua gardeners- very much so indeed, since this is our first year of vegetable growing.

When Burpees [[?]] seduction [[?really?]] catalog was delivered to us, we could not restrain our desire to order a few packages of nearly everything pictured therein- from field corn and soy beans to the most delicate and easily discouraged vegetables.

Our friends to whom we confided our plans laughed cynically and said they also had had just such enthusiasm in the past and all they got out of their efforts was a determination never again to be enticed by the pictures in a vegetable catalog. (I am very sure their seeds never came from Burpee's). 

Notwithstanding their gloomy prognostications, we determined to go on and plant our seeds since we had 'em.

And my! What wonderful crops of all Kinds of good things we are having! Our soy beans
