Having "gardened" before I knew that "Burpees Seeds Grow" and those were the seeds we used.

We started asters, tomatoes, peppers and such in flats in the house early in March, and when "garden week" arrived we were ready to plant and cultivate the field, some distance from our apartment which my father had had prepared.

My father centered his interest in early corn and peas, adding beans and cucumbers as his zeal increased. My mother and I knew no limit, but ordered everything in the seed catalogue which interested or appealed to the babies.
