[[start page]] REPORT OF ATTENDANCE For Last Fiscal Year, April 1, 1932 - March 31, 1933 April.................2,574 May...................1,706 June..................1,509 July (closed) August (closed) September.............1,954 October...............2,082 November..............2,751 December..............2,255 January...............2,278 February..............2,193 March.................2,704 ------- Total......22,006 For the previous fiscal year the attendance was..35,626 Total since opening of the Museum...............531,741 During this fiscal year it was found necessary to continue having the Museum open to the public only on weekdays from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., and to close it during the months of July and August. Deducting the attendance on Sundays, holidays, and for the month of July last year, the attendance would have been 26,736, a decline this year of about 17%. This compares favorably with other similar institutions whose reports show a decline of from 15% to 40% in the number of visitors. 5. [[end page]] [[start page]] MUSEUM BUILDING The Museum building has been maintained in the usual manner during the past year. A valuable addition to the equipment has been the building of a cabinet in one of the unused rooms in the basement, for the purpose of storing and exhibiting our comprehensive collection of silver specimens. This is practically completed, and the installation will be made this spring. The front office and entrance have been repainted throughout, and during the summer the gratings, window grills and tree guards were repainted. The policy of changing exhibits as occasion warrants has been continued. MUSEUM ANNEX The building remains in good physical condition with the exception of the leak, mentioned in my report last year, and the appearance of some smaller leaks about some of the window frames, which have caused deterioration of the plaster and paint in many places. I recommend most earnestly, these repairs be made as soon as possible.
