24 was packed full of larvae, mixed with the ants. A small hole in the bottom of the pocket led into a large (an inch in diameter) passage, extending vertically into the ground. It went deep, for I dug over a foot without finding bottom. The ants do not simulate death, but move [[strikethrough]] actively [[/strikethrough]] liesurely.
