[[left margin]] 5.18 [[/left margin]] Sept. 11. Drove from Jackson to Camden. Spent afternoon in gravel pit south of town. Not now in operation. Good fossiliferous white clay mostly washed away. Collecting not good. [[left margin]] 2.45 [[/left margin]] Sept. 12. Spent morning at Steel Bridge over Big Sandy River about 11 - 12 miles north of Big Sandy. Collecting good but exposure small. In afternoon went 1 - 1 1/4 miles upstream from Steel Bridge and collected Birdsong shale in bluff on east side of river. [[left margin]] 3.30 [[/left margin]] Sept. 13 - [[strikethrough]] Send Eugene Love, Rte 2 Holladay Tennessee, a copy of Dunbar on Devonian of Tennessee. [[/strikethrough]] ^[[Sent 10/5/40]] Collected at Will Love Farm. Collecting poor except for small things. Place much visited. Farm is located on east side of Tenn 69 just 10 1/2 miles S of junction of Tenn. 69 and US 70. Locality is just about four miles N of the center of Holladay. [[left margin]] 2.67 [[/left margin]] Sept. 14. Left Camden and went to Jeanette. Found no exposures SE of this place. Local people asked knew of none. Silurian limestone (Decatur) is exposed 1 1/2 miles NE & about the same distance SW of the village. Took quarters in Parsons. Drove from Perryville to Decaturville and back to Parsons.
