"What Burpee's Seeds Have Done for Me."

In February 1923 I sent to W. Atlee Burpee Co. for some seeds, including wax beans, cabbages, carrot, cucumber, peas and tomato. The 10% premium included golden Queen tomato. We had crookneck squash, okra and corn seed we had raised ourselves from seed originally purchased from Burpee's. I do a good deal of canning as it is healthy and palatable in winter. 

In September 1923 I decided to exhibit some of my canned goods at the Portland Hembock Grange Fair, Portland, Connecticut. I received first prize on peas, squash and okra; second prize on corn, yellow tomato and sweet cucumber pickle; and third prize on carrots and sour cucumber pickle. Also second
