   When I went to Japan, in 1886, I reserved a series of numbers in my register for my own use there, to avoid necessity of renumbering specimens on my return.  These numbers began with 4501 and the last entry in June, 1889, is 4761.  These numbers apply only to the specimens collect by me in Japan.
