My dear Stelfox,
Thanks for your letter received in Cork yesterday.
I am glad to know that the specimen of [[underlined]] A. carbonaria [[/underlined]] is correct and I hope that the small [[underlined]] Halictus [[/underlined]] will prove to be [[underlined]] H. [[strikethrough]] minutissimus [[/strikethrough]] = punctatissimus [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]].
I caught the [[underlined]] A. carbonaria [[/underlined]] as it landed, apparently to enter a burrow on a bare sandy spot about half-way up the slope of the upper pit, so the species evidently nests in the place. I was there only about an hour [[insertion]] (1:30 to 2:30 P.M.) [[/insertion]] when a thick mist

@siobhanleachman - Just to let folk know that I've made minor corrections and edited markup for consistency with other pages & Stelfox projects to allow scientists to easily remove markup if they wish. TC has previously said that the use of the male/female symbol often doesn't transfer between systems and recommends transcribing the symbol. The TC uses ^[[text]] markup for written text in typed pages. [[insertion]] text [[/insertion]] has been recommended for insertions. Sorry to bombard with info! Very helpful. Thanks.-thomasc
