19th April 1929. A beautiful day till 2 pm. but after I reached the ground only five minutes sun & then a cold "jam" formed from NE & no more sun.
Marsh in the Quill channel, Kilmacanoge, WI.
2.30 till 3 pm. Cuckoo flower out!
[[underlined]] Dolerus madidus [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] & [[female symbol]] very fresh.
[[underlined]] Andrena albians [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]], [[underlined]] A. jacobi [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] (?), [[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] B. terrestris [[/underlined]] seen on [[male symbol]] willow.
Very nice ground as suspected & this & Kilmacanoge marsh [[underlined]] should [[/underlined]] yield some good things - especially sawflies & icks. (or aculeates later in the summer).

[[underlined]] Andrena jacobi [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] on willow at 2
[[underlined]] A. clarkella [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbol]] frequent on [[female symbol]] willows at 2. 
[[insertion]] Saw one Swallow at L. Dan. [[/insertion]]
[[underlined]] A. lapponica [[/underlined]] one very fresh [[female symbol]] on moraine at 1.
[[underlined]] Vespa norvegica [[/underlined]] about larches at 2.
Nothing else seen & practically nothing flying owing to skinning wind blowing right down the valley.

21st April 1929. A very cold day, but almost entirely sunny, though strong wind (E) rendered collecting quite hopless.
Head of Glenmalur, WI (at ford of Baravore)
With E.K. Tratman, Riley, Gwynn (who ascended Lug.!) & Mansfield.
Spent most of day working marshes about the moraines but saw only a few [[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] [[neuter symbol]] on willows & one [[male symbol]] [[underlined]] Dolerus aeneus [[/underlined]] [[checkmark]] RCLP which lit on a leafy willow bank where I was on the look out for early Pteronidea. 
Garlic in flower at [[N'lnt?]] Kennedy.

Took "skinning" out of brackets as I believe that is what Stelfox wrote, implying the wind was blowing so hard it could take skin off! Also took brackets off "down" & edited to "downs" as that appears to me to be what Stelfox wrote + this is a place name in Ireland.
