A fine day with much sun, except from noon till 3 pm when a lot of clouds about, but very keen wind & little out. 10-30. Marsh between road & railway opposite Glenart Woods WI. Absolutely nothing flying! 11.0 AM till 1pm. Gold Miners Valley, WI. Nothing seen but a few Bombus & Holly Blue Butterfly; but on returning to car took two sawflies at foot of Monaglough Valley in usual marsh [[underlined]] Dolerus haematodes [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] (headless!) [[underlined]] D. oblongus [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] [[end page]] [[start page]] (12. 2.5.29. Drove to Clara in afternoon, but almost quite dull till 3 pm & only warm & really sunny after 4 pm, when E. wind dropped. 1.30 till 5pm. Worked oak-wood from Clara bridge to 1 mile below Croney Burns. [[underlined]] Bombus lucronum, agrorum & jonellus [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] numerous at Vaccinium flowers; saw one or two [[2 virgin female symbols]] of [[underlined]] jonellus. [[/underlined]] [[underlined]] Psithyrus distinctus [[/underlined]] several [[2 female symbols]] seen. [[underlined]] Andrena albicans [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] seen. " [[Ditto for: Andrena]] [[underlined]] lapponica [[/underlined]] fresh [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]] seen. [[underlined]] Halictus rubicundus [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] in sand flat. [[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris, rufa & norvegica [[/underlined]] numerous [[2 female symbols]] most at flowers of [[underlined]] Vaccinium. [[/underlined]] A few species of icks & one Braconid taken flying on Vaccinium but no trace of [[underlined]] Ichneumon seticornis [[/underlined]] & no Nomada seen with [[underlined]] A. lapponica [[/underlined]]. Several Holly Blues seen & Speckled Woods common.
