A little colder than yesterday - Pleasant -

1- Both Collieries idle, and nearly everybody suspended.  We have a squad timbering at Buck Mtn and another squad cleaning up the fall between the slopes

2 - At Buck Mountain-  Are hoisting the rock and we have 3 men outside dumping it -  The tunnel we keep working -

3- At Vulcan we have 3 men inside cleaning up and working at 1st West Batteries-  Batteries [[strikethrough]] for to [[/strikethrough]] are being put in heasts where we run our wash water from outside into these empty heasts so as to catch the sediment-  Have been doing this at Vulcan since the last resumption and started about the same time as Buck Mtn - 

4- Harry Lattimore was here this morning by request of Mr Jones-  He is to go out to Newark Ohio, to examine a locomotive that is for sale by A. S. Males & Co. of Cincinnati Ohio -  If this locomotive is satisfactory we will buy it and place it on the 3nd Lift at Buck Mtn-

5-  Everything quiet- 

6 - "Emmigration" law was passed on the 17th inst

Pleasant this morning-  Commenced snowing 1 PM - ground completely covered at 5PM, and the snow is coming down steadily -
Both Collieries idle -  No cars Runnin g-

Everything quiet -  Everybody suspended until Tuesday next  -

Times are very hard over the whole country, especially so in Schuylkill Co - Collieries are only working quarter time -

Prices of Bolts, nails & T Iron?, [[insert]] etc [[/insert]] are down - 80 & 7 1/2 % off Bolts - Nails 1.00 Keg net - Rails, two days ago $17. ton  - coal is down also -
