Pleasant -

Both Collieries started up this morning. B Mtn worked 9 hours - Vulcan after working 2 1/2 hours, had a "break down" on the slope - One of the cars in a trip of 3, jumped the track, around the latches at the 1st lip, and the engineer never noted it until he had the trip up on the trestle of the breaker - It damaged the road and tore up the boards etc on the trestle, to such an extent, that Mr. Jones ordered them to suspend for the day - It is queer that the engineer did not take notice to it by the working of his engines - The bottom men also failed to catch on to it for some cause - Can load the cars anyhow-

Everything ran smooth at Buck apparently -

Mr Weldy the Powder man was here to day-
Mr Daniel Thomas of Morea was here to day
Mr Kishbaugh informed Mr. Jones to day, that he wanted all the St. Bt and Broken we could make at Vulcan - Egg and stove are not in great demand - Chestnut is all right. Mr. Jones said we could give him plenty if we had the cars-

Transcription Notes:
Egg, chestnut, stove, etc. are coal sizes. I don't know what "st. Bt" refers to, but probably the abbreviation for another size.--thomasc
