Somewhat raw - cold -
Patches of snow here and there on ground -
Did not have any good sleighing this year or season yet -

Both Collieries worked 9 hours -
Received word from Delano, that our allotment is, 49 cars per day for the both Collieries, for 3 days work this week; namely: - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday - They also stated that they would give to either Colliery, on the first or second day, the 3 days allotment on one day, but we would only get 3x49 cars for the week - This arrangement is a good thing, as we can readily appoint or lay out on what days the Collieries can work, etc -

Vulcan hoisted 375 cars in 9 hours today (all coal)

Whitney & Kemmer, New York, Mr. Connor, Agent, are complaining of Wilbur Stove, as containing large pieces -
Mr. Jones was on Vulcan Breaker to day, and cautioned the men in charge there about it - Wrote Mr. Kishbaugh that it may have happened by the partitions under screen becoming worn out, and not detecting it in time - This is the first complaint we have had of our coals, in any respect, for sometime, and we hope to remedy this at once--

Somewhat cloudy this morning - Raining gently this P.M.

Both Collieries worked 9 hours -

Vulcan hoisted 388 cars, and about 20 of the miners were not out (attending some law suit at Pottsville)-- Had one gm Stove 1 gm Egg & 6 gms of Nut condemned - "Val" said it was caused partly by the amount of Buck Mtn Vein Coal he had to day - Only 103 cars of this coal was dumped on the breaker today, out of a total of 288 cars, about 27% - We get about 25% of our Coal from the Buck Mtn Vein at Vulcan, hence "Val's" statement is not altogether the true cause -

Buck Mountain Colliery is doing poorly - Mr Jones 'jacked' them up to day - should not hoist Rock when Colliery is working as they have a night shift on for handling the Rock - Still they hoisted 16 cars yesterday-- Mr. Jones will investigate the matter thoroughly tomorrow -
