Raining all day - Very disagreeable, and chilly -

Both Collieries worked 9 hours -
Everything run smooth to-day -

The Strike at Hazleton is about ended - Every Colliery is working except Jeanesville - This Colliery will start un a day or two - Some think they will strike again after the soldiers are withdrawn -
The Skidmore Vein, cut by tunnel from Seven Foot, 1st West Vulcan Colliery, consists of about 3'-10" of false bottom, about 2/3 coal. and on top of this 3'-9" of good coal; then a slate - Vein will average from 7 to 8 feet thick -

The "Evans" Breaker at Hazleton was burned down Tuesday evening about 7.30 oclock - This Colliery is owned by A.S. Van Wickle, and he has it [[strikethrough]] re [[/strikethrough]] leased to another party - Supposed to have been set on fire - Loss about $50,000.

Very disagreeable this morning - Drizzling Rain - Stopped raining at noon.  did not rain this PM but still cloudy -

Vulcan only worked 8 hours.  Had 6 1/2 cars condemned coal to run through -
BMtn worked 9 hours -

Everything quiet at Hazleton - Battery of Artillery, guns and men passed through on a special train for their homes at Phoenixville.  All the Collieries are working except Jeanesville.

[[three vertical hatch marks]] Brizey is calculating the number of tons of coal in Vulcan & Buck Mountain Mines.
