Grey morning - Raining gently this PM -

We are short of boiler and of wash water at Buck Mountain - Also short of wash water at Vulcan - some of this we are using the second time -

Artesian Well #3 at Vulcan is now down a little over 600 feet and is in green sand stone - Intend to put in down into red shale, and after we penetrate this about 8 feet, we will test it - Mr. Jones is negotiating for an artesian well pump and engine for this well - A line of pipe will be laid to Buck Mountain Colliery - Fresh water at Buck Mountain Ville is very scarce - Dams across from New Boston furnish ample for New Boston Ville - Trust it will rain soon -

Lehigh Valley cut our allotment of cars to-day also; but for this we would have a very large train of empties standing at Collieries - Tonight no empty cars are at Vulcan, but we will have some at BMtn -

Beautiful day -

Both Collieries worked 10 hours -

Everything quiet - Only received 60% of our allotment of RR cars to-day - RR Co has been cutting us the last two days, but to-day we could have loaded 15 full cars more -

Mr. Meigs of the Bloomsburg Car Mfg Co. called this PM. We want about 25 new mine cars at BMtn, as the work is getting farther away from the slopes, and it is necessary in order to keep locomotives supplies -
