Received word this Pm about 2 oclock, that the
L.V. would run cars only 2 days this week, Tuesday and Wednesday - Vulcan worked 9 hours and Buck
Mountain 8, and after loading our allotment, 53, we have enough coal in the Breakers to load our allotment tomorrow -

Buck Mountain hoisted 331 cars coal & 12 Rock; 8 hrs
Vulcan hoisted 375 cars coal & 0 Rock; 9 hrs

Jacob Evans, inside foreman at Buck Mountain, went home to [[Anderived?]] to-day on the 1·20 PM train - sick -

Pleasant for a little while this morning - sun shining
brightly - commenced raining again and to blow, at 10 Am -
not raining and somewhat cooler this evening - somewhat

Both Collieries idle - Vulcan run through 13 cars condemned coal, 2 Egg, 3 stove & 7 nut this day - BMtn run through 2 Egg, 1 stove & 1 nut today, and condemned 4 Cars of Chestnut afterwards, [[strikethrough]] which are still standing there [[/strikethrough]] ([[strikethrough]] no,[[/strikethrough]] they run three cars through-)

The #3 Artesian Well, Buck Mountain, is about completed - Will not start it up until next spring - Pipes are not covered thoroughly, ground being frozen, and we are afraid to start it as we may get the line frozen up - Do not need it at present -

New Goyne pump is now in position and is working very satisfactorily - Old pump was a nuisance, and occaioned many delays on the breaker, [[strikethrough]] f [[/strikethrough]] by breaking down now and again -

New Nest of Boilers at Vulcan will be completed in about three weeks -
Mr Jacob Evans of Buck Mountain at home sick - today -
