69. Kunming Lake       Ch. Br.
Tien Chih, also known as Kunming Lake, lies  south of Kunming, Provincial capital of Yunnan. It has a circumference of three hundred li with two hills by the name of Chin Ma (Golden Horse) and Pi Chi (Blue Cock) guarding both sides. In the lake itself there are two isles. The water is deep and crystal clear and the scenery is most pleasant.

71. Source of "Tsin" River    Br.
Th Nan Lao Tsuan, below the Tsin Duke's Temple, bears the inscription of the "Foremost Spring in Tsinyang." The water is as clear as crystal and no overflow nor drying up can ever be anticipated in the year. It branches into three streams and ends up in one flowing into the Fen River which leads to the Yellow River.

72. The Peiping National Library      Br.
Built in 1931, at the high cost of $1,200,000, is this palatial and gorgeous edifice of the National Library. It is splendidly decorated and the interior painting and carving are most magnificent. It is considered to be the largest in the East, possessing many unique prints and many manuscripts of the dynasties from Tsin to Ming (260-1643 A.D.).

73. Dagoba        Ch. Br.
In the Pi Yun Ssu, about 35 li west of Peiping is a big dagoba cantaining several thousand carved stone buddhas, all of which are of excellent workmanship. There is also the national musoleum of the late Dr. Sun Yat-sen.

75. Pailou

In the Monastery of the Sleeping Buddha in the west of Peking.

77. The Great Wall        Br.
Taken at Nankou, one of the important passes along the Great Wall, which was built about 300 B.C. for the purpose of defending China from being invaded by the Tartars. At intervals of every 360 feet a block-house was built on the wall. It has the enormous length of 5440 li, now regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world.

78. The Princess Pass     Br.
Also known as Niangtsekwan, in the northeast of Peiping in Shansi Province, is a pass of great strategic importance in military operations. The name is so given simply in commemoration of Princess Ping.
