Because of the vivid resemblance of the pine forest to a yellow sea, Huangshan is also called Huanghai (Yellow Sea). It is situated between Taiping and Ihsien in South Anhwei, covering an area of 70 sq. li. The most renown spots are the thirty-six peaks, thirty-six springs, eight canyons, and twelve caves, not to mention of the other numerous mounds and valleys. Pines and strange-shaped rocks are very appealing and the sea of clouds presents a wonderful view. This picture, taken from the Wenshu Temple is a part of the immensity of this mount which seems to reach up to the very heavens raising all the other peaks with it in similar grandeur.

93. After The "Tang" Master P.N.
The Siao Sin Po at the left side of the Wenshu Temple, a very steep precipice with a flight of steps almost perpendicularly cut out of the rock itself, is so undescribably hazardous a place that visitors cannot help feeling afraid and uneasy. It is for this reason that it deserves the name of Siao Sin which means "Take Heed." This picture, strikingly resembling a painting of the artist of the Tan Dynasty, shows a number of perilous spots among which the Siao Sin Po is the most noted.
