For Prize Contest

In the spring of 1923 we found among seeds from Burpee a package of unnamed poppy seed. The summer was very hot and dry and the plants grew only about six inches high. They began to bloom in mid-June and continued untill frost. Very tiny blooms, we called them fairy blooms, many shades of pink, salmon and white.

The season of 1924 was very wet and the poppies grew twelve to fifteen inches in height. We picked a bouquet every morning from mid-June untill frost. Some of the blossoms measured nearly three inches across when pressed out flat.
