PRIZE CONTEST FOR 1925
NO. 1320

This first-year garden in a barren spot on the Maine coast. The season is three weeks behind the season at home in R.I.

An old gray stone wall encloses the garden. Outside we planted a lilac hedge. My husband built the entrance arch, on which Scarlet Climber bloomed this year.

Planted May 26 - 31, the garden had no further care until our return July 8. Have had flowers continually since, Nasturtiums, petunias, alyssium, phlox, gladioli, candytuft, salpiglossis, marigolds, poppies, zinnias, cosmos, and dahlias. with many perennials started for next year. Burpee's seeds grow.
