Washn DC. 315/319 Major I have the honor to state that there are a number of desks in the hands of the Post Quartermaster at this place, not needed by officers of this Bureau, and to avoid the expense of purchasing desks, I respectfully ask that col. Mr. without delay, all records except retained papers, which will show an exhibit of your proceedings as Financial Agent B.R.F. & A.L. during your term of service as such. Stickney Maj. J.W.H. Goldsboro, N.C. 305/ Major It having been reported to these Hd. Qrs. that the Mayor of Goldsboro has ordered the disarming of all negroes in that place, you will please at once ascertain the truth of this report. Unless under some State Law respecting the carrying of concealed weapons the negro can no more be disarmed than can the white man, & if any shot guns or muskets have been taken from them, they will be at once restored. You will also please to ascertain if the Mayor of Goldsboro comes under any of the excepted classes of the Amnesty Proclamation, & if so, if he has ever been pardoned, & make a prompt report to this office.
