I am directed by the Assistant Commissioner, to inform you that the requirement of Sec.15 of the "Act to continue in force and to amend An "Act to establish a Bureau for the relief of Refugees and Freedmen", requiring all employees of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and A.L to take the Oath of Office, prescribed in an act, entitled "An Act to prescribe an Oath of Office", and for other purposes, has not yet been complied with by Ken A. Syme, a clerk in your office.  I am also directed to say that the provisions of the above Section must be complied with by Mr. Syme or vacate his position.

I have the honor to request that transportation be furnished Hannah Manly freedwoman from Raleigh to Galveston Texas. 
She was brought from there some years since by her former master.  She is disabled, cannot work and has no means, and has friends in Texas able and willing to provide for her.
