I have the honor to acknowledge to receipt of your communication of 13th inst requesting the names of all officers of the Volunteer Staff Department now on duty in this State whose services can be dispensed with.
In reply I respectfully report that there are but two Volunteer Staff Officers now on duty in the Bureau for this State viz Bt Maj [[underlined]] Thomas P. Johnson [[/underlined]] Capt and A.Q.M. Chf Quarter Master & Chf Disbursing Officer of the Bureau for this State - and

I have the honor to transmit herewith copies of instructions received from Maj Genl Howard, Commissioner in reference to the continuence of the issue of rations to the destitute of this State and respectfully invite your co-operation in the matter.
Several applications for assistance have already been received and my desire is to arrange as speedily as possible some concerted actions by which the desired ends may be reached.
