Your report of the Murder of Archy Beebe freedman by the White Citizens of Fayetteville N.C. and of the action of the Civil Authorities in the premises has been received.
I am directed by the Act Asst Commissioner to request you to furnish to this Office [[underlined]] immediately [[/underlined]] Affidavits taken at length of all parties who witnessed the shooting.  You will keep yourself informed of the movements of the man called Capt Tolun and the other men who have been identified as participating in the murder.  The verdict of the Coroners jury is in direct conflict to the facts shown in the direct evidence adduced before that body.
The refusal of the Mayor to arrest the murderers and those who were aiding in the murder will receive the attention a crime of so much gravity merits.

I am directed by the Asst Comr to inform you that 300 bushels of corn donated by the Southern Relief Commission of New York City will be shipped to the US Quartermaster at Charlotte N.C. for distribution among the destitute in the North Western part of Anson County without regard to race or opinion
Mr L.L. Polk of Lanesboro has been named by Gov Worth as Agent on the part of the State to co-operate with you in this work.  In order to show the manner of distributing this provision receipts will be taken from each party receiving - blanks for which purpose will be sent you.

I am directed by the Asst Comr to inform you that 1000 bushels of corn will be shipped to the US. Quarter Master at Charlotte for distribution to the destitute of Union County without regard to race or opinion under your supervision and that of H.M. Houston Esq of Monroe who has been named by Gov Worth to act on the part of the State.
This corn is the donation of the Southern Relief Commission of New York City and for the satisfaction of the Commission it is
