Referring to your communication of 9th inst covering list of nominations for Registers &c in Nash County, I am directed by the Asst Comr to request you to obtain the antecedents of Hon A.H. Arrington who you have named as having rendered you valuable assistance, it is said he was a member of the Congress of the so called "Confederate States" and further that you will confer with Jesse J. Walker Esq. of Nashville as to the parties named by you and reporting his recommendations.

The County of Lenoir having become a part of the Military District of Goldsboro, the Asst Commissioner directs that you receive instructions so far as the business of that County is concerned from Maj C.E. Compton USA Sub Asst Commissioner at Goldsboro, to whom you will immediately report by letter for further orders.
