General

In relation to the communication of the Qr. Mr. Gen'l of date Aug. 4" 1866, referred by you to me for report in regard to the "Grider House" occupied by officers of this Bureau, I have the honor to state as follows: The "Guion House" is and has been for a long time, occupied by officers of this Bureau, as offices, school rooms and Dispensary. Its condition has been getting worse every month, until now it has become untenable. A very large sum of money would be required to put it in repair, and to secure it from a liability to be entered, as to keep it clean. I have therefore directed that it be returned to its owners and that proper rooms be hired for the use of the officers now occupying it.
