"Remington No. 1" was put upon the market. The collection also contains a model of the first typewriting machine in which double type bar (upper and lower case) type) were used, constructed in 1876. Only two or three machines were constructed before it was found desirable to make an entire change in the model. A machine somewhat similar to that now manufactured followed shortly afterward^[[:]]
