Black, 2 PL Attapetes, at least 1 Synallaxis, 1 Cotinga [[underline]] CXIX [[/underline]], and 1 nondescript flycatcher. Attapetes, Synallaxis, [[underline]] and Cys [[/underline]] stick low in scrub, 2 - 6 ft up. All other birds in trees.      6 - 15 ft up. Group as a whole quiet. And very diffuse. But [[underline]] undoubtedly [[/underline]] highly integrated. Whitestarts definitely in lead. Followed by the [[underline]] Th. cyanocephala [[/underline]].

What has happened to the Sittis this year?

Leaving this area 10:45 am.

NOTE: The "BCBT"s hear are rather distinctive in appearance. Like Panama BCBT's underneath, and on back, wings, and tail. But cap is [[underline]] light [[/underline]] grayish brown. Darker (almost a streak) at lower border cap (next to white throat). Iris white or light. No visible patch of white feathers around eye.

Going up road to peak of mountain this morning

Weather is like yesterday. Clear. Cool. Wind starting up at dawn. 

First bird sounds heard 5:35 am. Miscellaneous. Then some DC (Probably Cy Thlypopis).

Reach first patch AS (where Whitestart-like Songs heard a couple of days ago) 5:40. 8500 ft according to my altimeter now
