[[margin in red]] Carbo [[/margin]]
Back to site visited first this afternoon 5:25. Carbos still there. I think that a couple of them have sung 1 or 2 song phrases. All phrases rapid hard twitters [[[jagged line]]. Perhaps less formless than those of most individuals of other subspecies.

The other finch cited above is XLII. I think that it is probably [[underlined]] Poospiza hypochondria [[/underlined]]. I shall call it the "Red-capped Finch"

October 15, 1963
Near Unduavi

5:55 a.m. Arrive same area Unduavi - Coroico road as yesterday morning. 10,925 ft. Raining gently, but no fog - yet. Still quite dark.

6:07. Nothing that sounds like Diglossa song or anything else I recognize. Rain coming down quite hard.

6:15 Hear song phrases which sound like low-intensity [[Underline]] Atlapetes [[/underline]] songs "Wheee zu zu"

See single Black Thrush hopping along road.

6:55 a.m. Rain still continuing full force. Almost nothing moving about or visible, except thrushes and a peculiar type of warbler or furnariid with orange and black striped head (XLIII). At least ^[[2 check marks above]] 2 of the latter were singing ca 6:25 - 6:35.

I presume that the [[underline]] rufinucha [[/underline]] - like songs were being uttered by XXVIII. Hidden low down in scrub and quite invisible.

Leaving for another area 7:15.
