[[circle]] 9 [[/circle]] [[circled]] 47 [[/circled]] [[margin in red]] Myst [[/margin]] Myst seem to ignore one another. Then the Myst disappears from view. Leave myself 9:45 am. Going to same place this afternoon as yesterday afternoon. Arrive 4:35. Overcast but no rain. Carbos, Orange-bills, and Red caps all here. [[margin in red]] Carbo [[/margin]] One Carbo makes flycatching flight. Then feeds in scrub 2 - 6 ft above ground. Pierces small tubular purple flowers. Also apparently searches for insects. There is also at least one [[?]] or [[female symbol]] [[underlined ]] Thraupis bonariensis [[/underlined]] around here. Carbos have uttered CN's but no song. The Thrush around here is the brown species. [[margin in red]] Carbo [[/margin]] Carbo piercing large tubular pink flowers 10 - 20 ft above ground Then goes considerably higher in eucalypt. But I have never yet seen one feeding on eucalyptus flowers here. [[margin in red]] Carbo [[/margin]] I am surprised not to have seen CC's around here. Is it because there are too many small trees in the neighborhood? Or do Carbos attack CC's and drive them out??? Get a good front view of a "Red-cap". This bird is like the one seen yesterday, except that it has little or no reddish on flanks (which are gray) Lots of red on breast however. [[margin in red]] Carbo [[/margin]] One Carbo chasing another in flight Silent Followedby a [[underlined with squiggly line]] "zreeee [[/underlined]]-za-za-za" pattern by one bird. Immediately after, I see one Carbo supplant another. Probably the same two birds. Territorial defense is certainly being maintained now
