Rain starting 4:10!

Come across same pair of Buthraupis some yards further on. Yes they are definitely alone. Moderately noisy. Moving through trees and bushes 6 - 30 ft above ground.

[[margin in red]] Brun CC [[/margin]]
4:18. See a single ^[[1 check mark above]] Brun feeding on small tubular red flowers. In the same tree that the Whitestart visited earlier. About 30 yds from where the CC was seen.

4:21 Gone further down road, to 9800 ft. Nothing. The rain is beginning to pour down. Go on down to 9600 ft. We are now getting into cleared agriculture land & poor second growth. Rain getting worse and worse.

Pair of [[underlined]] Thraupis ^[[1 check mark above]] cyanocephala [[/underlined]] fly by. In low scrub, 6 ft above ground, on steep slope of ravine (almost 1/4 mile above river). Apparently alone. (There were a couple of birds, of unknown species, about 20 yds behind the [[underlined]] cyanocephala [[/underlined]] at first, but I don't think that they were actually following.) The [[underlined]] cyanocephala [[/underlined]] were quite noisy uttering lots of "Tsit" Notes and one twittering warble.

[[margin in red]] Brun [[/margin]]
I forgot to mention that the Brun seen this afternoon was in an area of moderately thick vegetation, but much less thick, and less tall, than the areas inhabited by Mysts further up hill.

This [[underlined]] Buthraupis [[/underlined]] is almost definitely [[underlined]] Montana [[/underlined]]. This afternoon I saw the blue stripe going down to the legs. Also noticed that the nape is really bright turquoise only at the border of the black. Turquoise gradually merges into blue of the rest of the upper parts further back.
