Northern Bolivia

February 26, 1964
Nr. Unduavi

Arrive Myst area above Unduavi 6:06 am. Still rather dark. Some fog but not too much

First bird sounds heard 6:17 am. Unidentified, except for some thrush alarm calls. Very little in the way of a Dawn Chorus by 6:22. Nothing at all 6:25. Can't be breeding season!

Hear what maybe Firebelly 6:28. Presumably equivalent of "Ta-ãuh" phrases, but higher pitched than corresponding pattern Quito birds. Also not nasal. Yes! See bird ^[[1 check mark above]] perched exposed tree 20 ft above ground. Also uttering single "Seeeet" Notes. "Ta-ãuh" type phrases might be transcribed by something like "Tu-uuh-tuuh tuh-uuh-tuuh tuh-uuh-tuuh". Slightly variable. Sometimes composed of doublets rather than triplets. "Tuh-tuuh"s. "Seeeet" Notes uttered between "Tuh-uuh-tuuh" phrases. Sometimes in series 4 or 5 notes at fairly regular intervals (quite like brief burst DC). This bird definitely alone. And being quite remarkably vocal now 6:33. Phrase after phrase.

Now utters phrase composed of quadruplets, not triplets. "Tuh-tuh tuh-uuh"s. 2 - 4 quadruplets per phrase.

Rather CC-like!

Some R's in distance now. Probably Black & Orange Stripe.

No sign of A Myst.

6:40. Hear burst of Whitestart song. Overlapping presumed Black & Orange Stripe R's.

NOTE: These R's are being uttered by one or both of a ^[[2 check marks above]] pair of birds moving thru scrub uphill. Can't tell if they are really Black & Orange Stripes or
