All the Goldfinches here seem to be the primarily black species. In large flocks.

See a pair of House Wrens alone

Catch a ^[[1 check mark above]] brief glimpse of a [[underlined]] bonariensis [[/underlined]] alone in Eucalypt. Uttering TW's

See pair [[underlined]] P. gayi [[/underlined]] alone. Probably same pair as before.

Also brown thrush alone.

See single Ocethera alone. Looks like species above Unduavi but lacks orange on throat & breast.

Leaving 3:45

Go up to crest between La Paz & Palca (see notes on mixed diglossini). Return same place 4:50 pm.

Some [[underlined]] P. [[?]] around in low scrub. Alone. One bird utters very hoarse buzzy [[underlined with squiggly line]] "Zreeeeeeoooo" [[/underlined]] Notes in flight I.E. Not much like [[underlined]] gayi [[/underlined]] but like the other spp. of the genus with which I am familiar.

Lots of little furnariids in scrub.

See another Orange bill alone. Then a single Red cap alone.

[[underlined]] Colibri [[?]] is one of the hummingbirds here. Feeding on the species of red flowers I found holes in, earlier, but not making holes itself

COMMENT: In many (but not all) ways, this area is quite like the lower garden area in La Paz. More & more evidence that mixed flocks (of species of my groups) definitely do not occur in such environments.

Between Calacoto and Palca

Going to work same place this morning as yesterday afternoon Arrive 5:50 am. Still dark, but dawn starting. Looks as if it may be a nice day. Clear, with only a few patches of fog on hill slopes.
