29th November 1931. A beautiful day, with very hot sun, blue sky & gentle N-NW breeze.
Worked the ivy blossom on old road from Kilternan over the lead-mines ridge to Ballyman (E. of Scalp) Co. DU.
Most, except [[underlined]] Dacnusa [[/underlined]] almost all, taken on S. slope of ridge on one bunch of ivy along E. ledge!
[[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] abundant everywhere.
[[underlined]] Hemiteles [[/underlined]] [[female sybmol]]
[[underlined]] Stenomacrus ventralis [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] (about six seen)
" [[Ditto for: Stenomacrus]] small black sp. 9 [[2 female symbols]] beaten out of bunch of ivy mentioned above, or near it.

[[underlined]] Apanteles [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]]

One other sp. of Braconid.
One Cynipid
Several small Chalcids seen but not taken.

6th Dec. 1931. A beautiful day, after some days rain & gales. Morning 11 till 1 pm.
Drove to Woodtown, via Fir House, Co. DU., & walked up to Military Road, then to Killakee gate & up Mt. Pelier Hill to the "Hell-Fire Club" on summit. On return down the old Woodtown road at 550 ft. alt. I beat 3 [[2 female symbols]] [[underlined]] Pezomachus [[/underlined]], 1 [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Hemiteles [[/underlined]] & several coleoptera ([[underlined]] Dromius [[/underlined]] sp.) out of a couple of very dense bushes of [[underlined]] Ulex europeaus [[/underlined]] growing in the ditch on sunny side of road: also hundreds of spring tails ([[underlined]] Tom. minor [[/underlined]] & smaller species).
