ichs. at hawthorn [[insertion]] ^ (not in flower) [[/insertion]], sycamore [[insertion]] ^ flowers [[/insertion], or beaten out spruce (1 [[insertion]] = [[underlined]] L. abietinus [[/insertion]] sawfly & several small ichs!). Then drove on to railway & collected for several hours by stream &c, just above (slate quarry & cherry tree &c) & below (old road, [[Hawthorn?]] &c) first of three railway bridges E. of Ballyanne (=3). Drove on towards [[Collmonnty?]] about 3:30 pm, E. to Ballywilliam station & stopped for an hour about halfway down valley to [[Collmonnty?]], where good marshy land, Salix, &c, (=4): here west of valley (opposite to railway) discovered two lovely sand-pits, practically disused, in mound of glacial drift, at about 250 feet alt. : drift largely granite with current bedded sandy beds (very important in view of J.K. Charlesworths' view that this is some distance south of the last glaciation. Very good ground seen about [[Collymonnty?]] if only sunny weather could be met with!

[[underlined]] B. hortisum [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] at 2 & 3. [[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]][[female symbol]] at 3. 
[[underlined]] Andrena albicans [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] at 2, 3 & 4, 1 [[female symbol]] at 3. 
[[underlined]] Halictis [[/underlined]] freygessneri 1 [[female symbol]] on primrose at 2.

Sawflies :-
At 2 [[underlined]] Lygneonematus abietinus [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] [[checkmark]] R.C.L.P. [[/insertion]] [[male symbol]], beaten out of Spruce. Also 1 [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Dol. aeneus [[/underlined]]! 
At 3 [[underlined]] Pontania [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] [[checkmark]] R.C.L.P. [[/insertion] spp. 2 [[2 male symbols]], beaten out of Salix by river. [[underlined]] Hoplocampa chrysorrhoea [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] [[checkmark]] R.C.L.P. [[/insertion]] [[2 female symbols]] beaten off blackthorn flowers in old lane & also ? 2 on Cherry blossom.
[[underlined]] Pristiplora [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] [[checkmark]] R.C.L.P. [[/insertion]] sp. [[insertion from below]] seen, but not named by Benson in 1934! [[/insertion] 1 [male symbol], in slate quarry.

At 4 [[underlined]] Dolerus aeneus [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] on grass. [[Pierostegium?]] ? [[female symbol]] beaten off alder at 1. [[underlined]] Orthocentrus radialis [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] at 2 (beaten out of spruce?)
[[underlined]] Pimpla [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] [[insertion]] (= ? stercolor) [[/insertion]] white & black legs caught but escaped on hawthorne at 2. 
Several more at same place. 2. 

Second at 3.

[[underlined]] Pimpla turionellae [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] on grass by roadside at 4.


[On evening of 15/5/32 several Doleri [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]] seen resting on grass along edge of cliffs at S. side of Duncannon strand, Co. WX. 7.30 - 9.0 P.M. 
[[underlined]] Dolerus aeneus [[/underlined]][[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]]. [[underlined]] D. picipes [[/underlined]][[male symbol]] & [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] D. nigratus [[/underlined]][[male symbol]].
