30th June 1932. A fine sunny morning, after a heavy nights' rain & gale; turning very wet again at 1pm. with gale & rain in evening.
Ballyteige Burrow, opposite Park, Co. WX. 11.0 till 1.0 pm.
[[underlined]] Bombus muscorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] at Park (i.e. N.) end of the "bank" 
[no [[underlined]] Bombi [[/underlined]] seen on the sandhills!].
[[underlined]] Andrean sericea [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] examined & released.
[[underlined]] Colletes montanus [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]], rare.
[[underlined]] Hylaeus [[/underlined]] [2 male symbol]] abundant on stony flats &c. of those taken: - 1 was [[underlined]] H. minutus [[/underlined]] & 1 [[underlined]] H. hyalictus [[underlined]]!
[[underlined]] Halictus punctatissimus [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] in flowers of [[underlined]] Cal. Soldanella [[/underlined]] on seaward slope of dunes. Very fresh!
[[underlined]] Osmia aurulenta [/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]] seen.
[[underlined]] Crabro wesmaeli [[/underlined]] abundant. 
[[underlined]] Tachysphex pictinipes [[/underlined]] a few only; 1 large [[female symbol]] taken.
[[underlined]] Pompilus planbeus [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]] abundant. [[underlined]] P. gibbus [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] taken
[[underlined]] Odynerus trimarginatus [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] on seaward edge of dunes.
[[underlined]] O. pictus [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] seen at S. end of the "bank".
[[underlined]] Chrysis ignita [[/underlined]] abundant on wall, with the last. 
[[wavy line]] [[side note applying to above two species]] on "bank of the Cull.' [[/side note]]
[[underlined]] Hedyshridium ardens [[/underlined]], several seen & one very large almost entirely green [[female symbol]] taken with the hand on great flat.
[[underlined]] Tetramorium caespitum, myrmica scabrinodis [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] Lasius niger [[/underlined]] common.

[[underlined]] Bassus varicona [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] on [[underlined]] Heracleum [[/underlined]] at N. end of "bank"; also several Cryptids with last in morning & a few other species during a clearance of rain about 2 pm (kept seperate) including on [[underlined]] Mesochoris [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]]. All others ichneumonids taken in dunes.

Painted Lady & Red Admiral (1 each) butterflies seen on dunes!

1st July 1932. A day of heavy showers & bright intervals with a moderately fine afternoon & very hot sun.
Drove to New Ross & down right bank of river to the scarp above the road N. of the Pink Point, Co. KK where collected for nearly an hour between showers; then on to Glenmore, where terrific storm lasting nearly an hour, & on by devious lanes to Inishtioge, passing west boundary of Woodstock demesne; next called at  sandpit on left bank of R. Nore, just below Inishtioge, & at site of wood a mile
