specimens are so nearly duplicates of others in your collections as to be of no additional scientific value to your Institution in connection with the advancement of the study of Anthropology. Heretofore your Museum has limited itself to the making of loans to or exchanges with other scientific institutions of such duplicate or surplus material, but has never made any sale of such surplus material, although fully authorized to do so under the terms of said Foundation Deed, provided that such sales are made solely for the more effectual carrying out of the Objects and Purposes set forth therein. 

"In order to release funds which are unnecessarily tied up in such duplicate or surplus specimens, so as to be available for use solely for the more effectual carrying out of the Objects and Purposes set forth in the Foundation Deed, I recommend that you authorize the sale or disposition of such duplicate and surplus specimens from your collections as may be deemed proper by your duly authorized representatives and for the aforesaid purpose that you adopt the following Resolutions to govern the selection of such duplicate and surplus specimens and the method of disposal thereof and governing and regulating the application of the funds realized therefrom: 

"RESOLVED that this Board accept the recommendations of the Grantor contained in his letter dated May 5, 1942 spread on the minutes of this meeting as to the sale or disposition of such duplicate and surplus specimens from the Collections owned by this Institution as may be deemed proper by duly authorized representatives, such sales to be made solely for the more effectual carrying out of the objects and purposes set forth in the Foundation Deed; and further

"RESOLVED that until further action by this Board, the members of the Staff Committee, the Treasurer and members of the Executive Committee be and they hereby are appointed the representatives of this Board in connection with the sale or disposition of duplicate and surplus specimens from our Collections and for the purpose of carrying out the true intent and purpose of these resolutions; and further
