Wellesley College - We have received 72 baskets from various tribes of the United States, and 8 bark and miscellaneous specimens from Canadian groups, for which the College will select pieces from our collections at a later date. [[underlined]] LOANS [[/underlined]] We have accepted loans of the following specimens from the persons listed, under the usual three-year deposit restriction: Dr. Edgar Burke A phallic stone pipe from Pike County, Illinois, and a pair of wooden ear ornaments from the Spiro Mound, Oklahoma. Mr. James E. Byrd A turkey feather cape and boa from the Mataponi Indians; three restorable pottery jars; pottery sherds and fragments; antler and shell implements and stone pieces - all from Princess Anne County, Virginia. [[underlined]] ACQUISITIONS [[/underlined]] Other than those listed as Gifts, among the important acquisitions are collections of archaeological material from Colusa, Orange, Sutter, and Ventura Counties, and from some of the channel Islands, California; a valuable collection of pieces from the Seri Indians of Sonora, Mexico; a group of implements from the Karok, of California; a group of large storage jars from the Diegueno, also of California; and the extensive Titus Collection of Cayuga County, New York archaeology. A large decorated tipi lining, on loan to use for some years, was also acquired by purchase.
