J. McLean In Recital Sun.

The young soprano, Joy McLean, will give a song recital Sunday, May 22, at the New York College of Music, 114 E. 85th St. at 5:30 p.m. It is free to the public. Amelia Goodman will be at the piano.

Miss McLean, who lives in New York, has made a notable name for herself, since her graduation from Hunter College in 1945.

Heard in various occasions in New York recitals, she has sung in the Guianas, Trinidad, and in the southern United States, and had an excellent career in England from 1948 and 1953.

It was in London that she was called to the "Porgy and Bess" company which toured throughout Europe, South America, the Near East, and North Africa during a period of three and a half years. First understudy for the role of "Clara," Miss McLean later took over the role for a considerable part of the tour.

Since 1959 Miss McLean has coached in the song and operatic repertoire with Dr. Fredric Kurzweil at the New York College of Music.
