Dear Miss Bier:

Thank you very much for your letter regarding the date you have offered me to sing at the Gallery.

Inasmuch as I have been employed as Minister of Music at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church here in Washington, and will be very involved with Christmas music for my choirs, I would appreciate it very much if I could be scheduled for a date later in the season. Although the programe is prepared, as you know, I do feel I would be too physically tired to do an adequate job.

I do hope my request for any other date not in the Christmas or Easter season will not cause you too much juggling in the schedule. With best wishes.

Sincerely yours,
