The men tattoo to some extent and mark the number of enemies they have slain by scars on the breast. The women tattoo the underjaw as on the Klamath & occasionally other parts. The colouring matter wh. is of a blue or greenish tinge they obtain by burning chips of redwood

under moistured stones from which they obtain the soot or black. The men scarify themselves in long furrows when unsuccessful in gambling. The game usually played, is made with six small round sticks about four inches in length, all but one of which are marked with rings. These are wrapped up by the player in a little bag & after being rolled & tossed about for a while are torn into two parcels the object being as in the Chinook game of "Hand" to guess in which the unmarked stick is.
