Sir   I have the honor to report on the work done in the Ethnological Section of the National Museum during the past month, as follows:

The recording of the Collections made by E W Nelson at Nelson Bay, has been continued through the month, and all the objects enumerated in his catalogue, 7504, will be entered by the close of this week. There will then remain the objects obtained by him at St. Lawrence I. and the contents of three boxes lately received from him & as yet unopened, and which are not included in his catalogue.

The collections of Dr E Palmer over 400 in number have been recorded, and such pieces as admitted of it, have been restored to shape for exhibition. 

The incidental collections received in this Section from J.G. Swan, Port Townsend and from J.J. McLean, Sitka, with one or two others of minor importance have also been recorded.
