the morning clear & pleasant the sun came out early & the Day was warm throughout  Inspection & Drs Call being so late did not go to Church in the morning  The afternoon spent principally in Reading & reviewing Caseys Tactics a report Received that Raleigh N.C. was captured by Shermans forces.

Morning beautiful & pleasant mail came in received two Papers from my Father a Letter from my Sister & J. H. Day. Relatives & friends at Home well conference to commence in Delaware on the 18th April
ordered to Hᵈ Qrs of the Div to Clerk by Dr [[Way?]] not liking the position did not willingly discharge the Duties assigned me. During the Night it rained some
