the morning clear & Beautiful though somewhat chilly after an early Breakfast & attendance at Roll call I taken a walk came pass where Guard mounting was being held & listened to some fine music discoursed by the Post band. The Day was fine throughout & nothing transpired worthy of mention. Received a Letter from G. B. Lewis the Boys all well. Suffering from the effects of the tooth ache which kept me awake all the Night Long.

the morning fair & Beautiful Still troubled with the toothache. the pain of which is more severe than last night & my face swelled to considerable extent. 
Inspection of Quarters by Dr. Way at Ten A.M. 
Shortly after several men of the 55th Mass Regt came to the Hospital Sick from Charleston S. C. went to the Methodist Church & listened to a fine Sermon from the 21st Chap & 15th verse of Job preached By a white Chaplain spent the afternoon making up for Sleep lost last Night a Letter from Miss S.E.A. & Miss [[Da. W?]] G.B.Le. [[J.I.W.?]] Cousin James & Andrew Freeman
