[[preprinted]] WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 1865. [[/preprinted]] the morning fair & Beautiful left the Hospitals for my Regiment at 8 A.M. arrived at Hilton Head at or before noon went to the Provost Marshals where we obtained some Dinner, after Dinner went to the Dock & went aboard the steamer Coil bound for the city of Charleston [[strikethrough]] to where we arrived [[/strikethrough]] which left the Docks at 10½ PM after taking on considerable freight. The Mail Boat came in before we left the Head [[end page]] [[start page]] [[preprinted]] THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 1865. [[/preprinted]] The morning fine arrived at Charleston at 6¼ AM went ashore & went to the Provost Marshalls office from where we went to the soldiers rest, after receiving some Rations. four of us belonging to the 55th Regt crossed the Ashley[[?]] River to St Andrews. Parishes camp Hollowol[[?]] - where the Regt is. found the men & officers well & apparently anxious to see me. spent the afternoon & evening till late in conversation with the men written a Letter to Miss S.E.A
