a pleasant & fair morning a small mail came in received two letters one from my Brother & [[G.B.L?]] the Boys in the company well. in the afternoon taken a short walk to see a lady ^[[inserted text above]]whose acquaintance I have made since[[/inserted text]]  after which [[inserted text below]]I have been in the Hospitl[[/inserted text]]I went on Company with several Ladies to the Review of the troops by Genl Hatch & Gumby on the Citadel Green, the sight was very imposing & was witnessed by quite a number of spectators 
the Drill was excellent throughout. late in the evening it Rained some.

A pleasant morning though somewhat cloudy, the Rain that fell though the night made the atmosphere very pleasant & salubrious 
no news of importance around the Hospital. Everything quiet in the afternoon several Ladies came into the Hospital to see the sick men. & also brought them refreshments or rather something to eat more palatable than we generally have issued in the Hosptl. to us.
